    Approximately 150 children in the UK are born each year with Hirschsprung disease , a condition where failure of development of the intrinsic intestinal parasympathetic ganglia , results in functional intestinal obstruction. Significant variation exists in the management of children with HD, particularly in relation to the rectal dissection and anastomotic technique that is used during the child's pull-through procedure.
