• FDA recalls several valsartan medicines, citing detection of impurity

    The FDA is alerting health care professionals and patients of a voluntary recall of several drug products containing the active ingredient valsartan, commonly used to treat high BP and HF, according to a news release.
    The recall is due to an impurity, N-nitrosodimethylamine , which was found in the products being recalled. NDMA is classified as a probable human carcinogen based on laboratory test results. The presence of NDMA was unexpected and is believed to be related to changes in the way the active substance was manufactured, according to the FDA press release.

    Papa John's Salads and Produce of Tolleson, AZ is voluntarily recalling 148 units of the Superfood Salads due to misbranding and undeclared peanuts. The product contains peanuts which are not declared on the product label as packages of peanuts were mistakenly included in the kits instead of cashews.
