    Lymphangiomas were first described by Redenbacher in 1828 , a rare benign lesion reported under names including: lymphangioma, cyst lymphangioma, lymphatic malformation, hygroma, hygroma cystic and cystic hygroma. More recently, the International Society for the Study of Vascular Malformations released a new classification in 2018 which categorizes microcystic lymphangiomas, macrocystic lymphangiomas and mixed cystic lymphangiomas as belonging to Lymphatic Malformations. It is a painless cystic lesion occurring in 1/2000-4000 live births, without significant difference in sex .
