• Analysis of Skin Microbiota in girls with vulvar lichen sclerosus

    Vulvar lichen sclerosus is a chronic skin disease that affects the skin of the vulva with itching, irritation, and pain. It may present in a prepubertal or adolescent patient. The etiology of VLS remains unclear. Autoimmune, genetic, hormonal, or infectious conditions may be involved in the pathogenesis of VLS. Recent studies suggested unbalanced skin microbiota in the region of VLS. We thus hypothesized that alterations of skin microbiotas may contribute to the development of VLS.
