• Tubal factor infertility women have lower serum 25D concentration and higher IL concentration than other women.• Vitamin D deficiency and high IL-6 concentration are risk factors for tubal factor infertility.• Serum 25D concentration is significantly and negatively correlated with serum IL-6.• There is an interaction between IL-6 and 25D for the risk of tubal factor infertility.• Prospective studies and clinical trials are warranted to assess the causal nature of these relationships.
